Hi everyone
In the music library, some files containing a special character such as "é" or "ä" are not displayed correctly. The special character is replaced with a square. This does not apply do all files, just to some. Here is an example:
"Frédéric Chopin - Nocturne No. 2 Op. 27 in D-Flat" is displayed as
"F☐d☐ric Chopin - Nocturne No. 2 Op. 27 in D-Flat"
(original file: "Frédéric Chopin - Nocturne No. 2 Op. 27 In D-Flat.mp3"
(Metatags: Artist: "Frédéric Chopin" Composer: "Frédéric Chopin")
or
"Georg Friedrich Händel - Sarabande" is displayed as
"Georg Friedrich H☐ndel - Sarabande"
(original file: "Georg Friedrich Händel - Sarabande.mp3")
(Metatags: Artist: "Georg Friedrich Händel" Composer: "Georg Friedrich Händel")
or
"Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Die Zauberflöte - Arie der Königin der Nacht" is displayed as
"Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Die Zauberfl☐te - Arie der K☐nigin der Nacht"
(original file: "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Die Zauberflöte - Arie Der Königin Der Nacht.mp3")
(Metatags: Artist: "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart" Composer: "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart")
Interesting enough, however, is that NOT all special characters are displayed wrongly:
"Herbert von Karajan - Künstlerleben, Op. 316" for instance is displayed as
"Herbert von Karajan - Künstlerleben, Op. 316"
(original file: "Johann Strauss II. - Künstlerleben, Op. 316.m4a")
(Metatags: Artist: "Herbert von Karajan" Composer: "Johann Strauss II.")
I checked the Metatags of these files, and all have the correct metatags (hence do NOT contain "☐").
My hypothesis is that special characters are displayed wrongly if they stem from a ".mp3" file, but they are shown correctly for a "m4a". Another guess would have been if "composer" and "artist" are the same, special characters are shown incorrectly. This, however, I find improbable as currently XBMC does not support the "composer" tag.
I'd be happy to provide more information should you require them for debugging this problem.
