I use Kodi on Xbox One X.
Before that (about a week ago) I used it on a normal Windows PC (17.6).
All the Scraping is done (movies / TV shows) and I can run movies and also TV shows (when the episode appears in the "Recently Added panel").
However, when I want to open a TV show (meaning that I want to see the episodes /seasons) then nothing happens (I do not get the list of eposides).
I used Kodi for many years now, I am sure that I tried the obvious .

Windows 7 pro 16 gig video card Geforce GT 730 After having Kodi 17.6 running for months with no issues just stopped working. So I uninstalled it and now when I launch it just FREEZES.

Neither crackle or pluto give me audio although they stream fine. They work fine on my phone and tablet, so i suspect its an hdmi problem perhaps? Anyone else run into this?

Cache Settings in advancedsettings.xml dont solves the problem. It feels like the cache Settings dosnt interact with live TV anymore. Endless Buffering with tsreader (no rtsp activated). On Android Device or Win10, it dosnt mater.

Solved - Issue with shows and scraping

I had an issue today for some reason where kodi scrapped the same tv episode twice. So I removed both and tried to scrape again and it never showed the new episode. Going through sources and selecting the file itself and trying to update gives me no information found. So then i tried on a second show to remove a random episode and update. Same issue. So next a copied one of the files to a new tv show directory of a show i dont have and renamed the file and it scraped that show just fine.

I tried removing the two shows and updating them again but it just will not scrape the episodes anymore. It will bring the show itself into kodi again but no episodes. Even past ones show checked but are not scraping the episode.

This is what i see a lot of. Any ideas? Also I am running mysql and my files sit on a NAS and i connect to them over smb in kodi. Everything was working fine yesterday.

Thai translation addon resource.language.th_th ver 9.0.2 (tested) contains illegal utf-8 characters in the following msgctxt entries:

1420/1424/1430/1439

I don't know what the language team is attempting to do with these translations (it's all Thai to me).

When you install Kodi on Windows outside of the Microsoft Store the taskbar icon looks like:

Pretty nice! However, when you install Kodi through the Microsoft Store the taskbar icon looks like:

Not as nice! Seems the icon is being scaled down, and includes a Windows backplate as well as a different Kodi icon (which also includes its own backplate).

Would be nice to get a higher resolution and nicer looking icon (at least drop the Windows default backplate).

Hi folks,

So, I'm on Kodi 17.6, on win10. And I use TVDB to scan my episodes. And It works well, until now.

The name of the show is "Trial & Error"... and I think that the challenge is that " & " can be used as a boolean search modifier.

IMDB has it as "Trial & Error"... TVDB has it as "Trial & Error" ... and when I scan it in, via TVDB I have to select Trial & Error","slug":"trial-and-error-1 (2017) (en)

Now, I know that I can't enter all that as a filename for my episodes.

I have tried a variety of naming attempts: trial.and.error.2017.s01e01 , trial.&.error.2017.s01e01, trial.and.error.s01e01, trial-and-error-1.s01e01 and likely a few others, but none of them accomplish the task of having teh episode successfully scanned into the database.

Just using the name trial.and.error.s01e01 will not work as that polls a show from back in the 80's rather than the one from 2017.

I'm open to ideas here folks. Anything that will get the episodes to scan. Thanks!

Hello guys.
While I've run into dozens of problems with kodi, I always succeeded in fixing them myself and it usually was the way I named episodes.
This time, though... I just can't seem to find the issue.

Like all my shows, I've put a "Death Note" folder in my "series folder"

In it I have 37 .mkv files named "Death.Note.S01EXX.mkv".
When I force Kodi to refresh the library, it does find the folder - Death Note appears in my library but it's empty.

I've also tried "Death_Note_2006_S01EXX.mkv" but to no luck.

any ideas?

I've updated Leia to the latest nightlie and since then the refresh rate switching and channels do not work any more on my Shield / Oreo. Is that a common issue or it must be something specific to my setup ?

Hi, i'm finalizing a new mod here. and there are a few things I really want to have but not sure if can possibly be done or are HARDCODED into kodi's behavior.

1) going back from fullvideo to last window (INCLUDING DIALOG INFO) -
Say I enter a movie/tvshow and started playing video fullscreen.
Desired behavior: going back/stop video returns to last window, in this case, DIALOG VIDEO INFO.
Currently: going back brings to last window such as home/tvshows/season/episodes....but not dialog info.

2) When playing an episode, from episodes viewtype/widgets... Next button doesn't work. I assume this happens since there's no queue in the playlist.
But it seems plausible that playing hitting next when playing episode will bring to next episode (unless playlist was specified).
Core or skinnable? (and yeah i know about ''play next auto'' or ''next up'' addon, i'm talking about next from osd button itself).

I have been trying to teach myself some skinning for Kodi. I have used an existing module script-xxx.xml -- I have learned a ton by tweaking here and there, and am at a point where I am trying to make my own skin. Here is my question. I have a label control with the following syntax:
<label>$INFO[Control.GetLabel(3998)]</label>
The value within the Control.GetLabel(3999) is the value that I want to use... however, I only want to use the first value from that variable. the variable contains a number followed by a space and them some other text. I am looking for a way to extract only the number part. Example: "23 pants ordered", I would want the value of only "23" (ultimately I would love to format it as "0023") -- Example: "750 items ordered" , I would want to extract the value "750" (ultimately would love to format it as "0750"). I think that this may need to use some sort of Split command and extract only the first value, but I have no idea how that syntax works. I've been trying and searching web for 2 days now. I know this is an easy one for you more advanced skinners. Please help out a newbie...

Hi! Apparently, the thetvdb.com scrapper does not work any more for me.

In the log file, I have scanned "F for Family" and "Right Now Kapow". Both shows contain new episodes, but Kodi doesn't find them.

I disabled all main menu items, except for favourites.

Is there posibility, to disable all other settings in main menu.
So there are shown only favourites, without its own tab, and that i dont have power options and system setting available with remote.

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to koi but slowly i am feeling my way around but I've stumbles on an issue that I find extremely annoying and is probably a result of my inexperience. I would really appreciate help or a little enlightenment please.

I have an android box on which I have installed Kodi 17.6 with eh standard skin Estuary. I have recently subscribed to an IPTV service and am very happy that everything works well through PVR IPTV Simple client add-on and there are no issues with the stream.

So far so good my problem is that I have selected several of the available channels and by pressing long I can choose to place them under "Favourites", all is fine and well but if I then go to Favourites then select one and try to change channel after to another favourite it picks the next channel on the IPTV server.

Hence I cant really use the function Favourites. Not being completely useless I then selected TV and attempted the filter function but it doesn't show the option favourites.

Am i doing something completely wrong or do i need to sure another add-on to do this?

I simply would like to have my 500+ channels filtered down to my favourites and be able to cycle between them including using the EPG only for the favourites.

I also had the idea of editing the M3u8 list but the I lose the update functions if the streams are lost.

Android - Libreelec to Shield, NFS not working!

So I've been running kodi using Libreelec for a few years now on an Intel Nuc and an old laptop. Both are pointed towards my synology NAS to use MySQL database and for Video storage using NFS. I have not had any problems setting up the Advanced settings xml file or the sources file.

So I'm thinking or replacing the laptop and NUC with a Shield, and I get my hands on one during the recent sale.
BIG PROBLEMS EMERGE.

I copy over the right xml files, and the database pulls up when I start up kodi, showing all my video files. BUT when i go to play any of them, they can not be found and kodi asks me if I want to delete it. I go check my NUC, no problems there.

Is there something I have to do different on the shield to get this to work?
Do I need to post this in another thread?
I don't want to return the Shield but if I can't get this to work using NFS, I'll have to.
